Underlined teams means I received at least one preview from the team. Information for teams that aren't underlined are mostly based on last year's team results. Times given are from Saratoga State Park unless noted.

Colonial Council Boys

Fonda-Fultonville returns six out of the their top seven from last year but the one they lost, Michael Scott, is a big loss. Still, Senior Matt Hoffman is the defending league champion and was just under 16 minutes last year. She should be even better after a solid spring season. Their second and third runners should be Seniors Tyler Angioli and Jimmy Westman as they we both in the mid to high 16's last year. Senior Omijah Piening and Junior Dalton Hunter should close out their top five as both were in the high 17's last year. The Braves will want to see that gap between their top three and the fourth and fifth a little closer to give them some distance from the rest of the league.

Ravena  brings back five out their top seven last year lead by Senior Griffith Eddy, who was in the low 17's last year as their number one runner. Sophomore Angel Colon should be their number two runner. He was in the mid 17's last year but I have not seen him in any track results. Senior Nick Reynolds is their number three and was just under 18 minutes last year. Senior Zachary Penzabene and Sophomore Ryan Morrow are their fourth and fifth returning runners as they were both just under 19 minutes last year, though I expect a big improvement for Morrow based on his spring season. Ravena would like to see that 1-5 spread close, Morrow could help that with a solid season but Colon is a question mark for me. Should be in a battle for second with Ichabod but I'm not sure they have enough to beat Fonda.

Ichabod Crane only return three out of their top seven from last year but they also had the top eight runners in the J.V. race at last year's league championships so they have enough depth to still compete at the top of the league. Ichabod is known for their small gap between their first through fifth runners and this year is no different. Their top three runners, Junior Devyn Fernandez and Seniors Jeff Barker and Dam Loskowitz were all in the mid 17's last year. Couple with Juniors Mark Korycinski, Ben Graham, and Andrew Becker who were  in the low to mid 18's last year and they have great depth. Still, they need to times to improve if the want to compete with Fonda for the league title since Fonda returns five runners under 18 minutes.

Cobleskill-Richmondville return four out of their top seven but had good enough depth to stay competitive. Junior Johnathan DiCesare is their top runner and was in the high 16's last year. Senior Austin Scavullo should be their second runner and is about a minute behind running in the high 17's last year. What helps them is their third through fifth runners as they are very close together. Juniors Gabe Gerhardt and Warren Mau, coupled with Sophomore Nick Pearson were all in the mid 18's and give the Bulldogs a solid top five. They still need thier second through fifth runners to close that gap to DiCesare if they want to move up in the league.

Lansingburgh returns six out of seven from last year. Junior Dante Carr and Sophomore Mike Miller are a solid top two as both were just over 17 minutes last year. Junior Jon Carlos Albarran should be their number three and was in the mid 18's last year. Their fourth through sixth runners, Seniors Brandon Medina, Robert Tobias and Alex Mattey were in the mid 19's last year. Like the rest of the league's teams that are in the middle of the pack, they will need to see the gap between their top two runners and their third through fifth runners  close if they want to move up in the league.

Schalmont returns five out of their top seven last year including a pretty solid top two with Senior Jeff Budka and Junior Jon Ricciardi, who were both in the mid 17's last year. Juniors Hunter Marshall and Dave Donofrio should be their third a fourth runners and were about a minute behind their top two which is a gap they need to close. Their next two retuning runners Junior Kevin Stearns and Tim Budka were about a minute begin their third and fourth runners. These gaps need to be closed if they want to move up in the league. I feel they can go as high as fourth but as low as ninth.

Voorheesville returns four out of their top seven. Senior Joe Becker was in the mid 16's last year and was a state qualifier. He should be one of the top runners in the league. Junior Richard Decker should be their number two but is about a minute and a half behind Becker. Sophomore Breadan Morrison should be their third runner and was in the mid 18's with Joe Guyer about thirty seconds behind him. The rest of their returning runners are at least over 20 minutes so those times need to drop and their 1-5 spread needs to close considerably.

Cohoes returns six out of seven. Next to Fonda, they have the best 1-2 punch in the league with Seniors Sam Morrett and Mike Muzio. Both where in the mid to high 16's and should be very competitive in the league. Sophomore Jason Hake should be their third runner and was in the mid 18's last year. 8th grader Justin Charbonneau joines the team this years and jumps right into the fourth spot on the team. Senior Reid Kisselback is their fifth runner and was a bit behind. Their 1-2 punch coupled with a sold 3-man is a good start but there is a huge gap after their top three that has to close if they want to move up.

Albany Academy return four of their top seven from last year.  Junior Griffin Keegan is their top runner and was in the mid 16's last year. After a 10:08 3200 meters last spring I expect a big jump from him this year. Senior Anthony Stefanelli should be their second runner and was just under 18 minutes last year. Senior Greg Finin is their third runner and was in the mid 19's last year. Junior Ben DelVecchio is their fourth runner and was in the mid 20's last year, over a minute behind Finin. The rest of the returning team were all over 20 minutes last year and will need to drop their times. The difference between fifth and tenth in the league is extremely close so with some improvements they could definitely move up.

Mechanicville returns all five runners from last year. Senior Caleb Foard, Freshman Vincent Rapacciuolo, and Sophomore Jacob Gagliastri were all in the mid 18' and were only seven seconds apart. Senior Adam Zielnicki should be their fourth runner and was just under 19 minutes last year. Freshman Noah Peppin is their fifth runner and was in the mid 20's. If their fifth runner can close that gap to their top four then they can make a big move up in the league,

Watervliet only had four runners last year but return them all so they may have a complete team this year. All of their runners were over 22 minutes last year so they will will have to work on improving their times before worrying about moving up in the league.

Colonial Council Girls

Last Year's Team Champion: Holy Names

Last Year's Individual Champion: Catherine Maloy (Holy Names)

Holy Names is the defending champions and one of the best teams in the state. They return their entire team and also add another top runner. Junior Leah Triller is the defending Sectional champion and has run in the mid 17's last year. Seniors Catherine Maloy and Jacqueline Willsey both were in the low 18's last year and Maloy is the defending league champion. Sophomores Kaylee Scott and Kaitlin Close were both in the low 19's last year. The big addition is Estela Smith who is transferring in from Saratoga. Smith was in the high 17's and will strengthen the team up top. I really don't see any way of them losing in the league as they also have a very deep J.V. team too in case of injuries. Just how far they can go is anyone's guess.

Fonda-Fultonville only had five runners last year but return them all. Junior Kimberly Geniti was in the high 18's last year and should be their top runner. Freshman Jaime Kasza and Sophomore Samantha Phelps were both in the low 19's and should be second and third runners. All three runners were state qualifiers last year and a solid top three. Juniors Carly Littlejohn and Katie Wisniewski were in the mid to high 20's last year and finish out their top five. The team looks like a solid second in the league and a favorite to win Class C's but getting ahead of Holy Names is a tall task.

Mechanicville also returns their entire team. Sophomore Arissa Spitalny leads the team with a mid 19's run last year. Sophomore Kali DeMarco and Senior Schuyler McGuire were in the low to mid 20's last year and should be their second and third runners. Senior Angela Tylock should be their number four runner and was just over 21 minutes and Sophomore Vanessa Mickalonis was in the mid 21's last year and finishes up their top five. A very solid team but need their times to drop  if they want to challenge Fonda for second place, and possible the Class C title.

Ichabod Crane returns their entire top seven with Senior Colleen Tretheway in the mid 20's last year as their top runner. Their next three runners are close together as Juniors Alexa Baker and Angela Dennis, with Senior Sydney Sericolo all in the low to mid 21 minute range last year. Sophomore Sagan Leggette should be the fifth runner and was just under 22 minutes last year. They will want to improve their depth as their sixth runner is almost three minutes behind. They should battle Mechanicville for third but may have a tough time to get up to second.

Albany Academy returns six out of seven from last year. Senior Morgan Wojtusik is back healthy this season after missing all of last year with injuries. She was in the low 18's as a Sophomore and if she's anywhere near that kind of shape, she'll be one of the top runners in the league. Junior Kaitlyn McGarvey is much improved and moves up to the second position. She was just over 22 minutes last year. 8th grader Hannah Tulchinky moves up from modified into their third spot. She won the modified race at the league championships last year. Sophomore Sarah Jones is their fourth runner and was in the mid 21 minute range last year. Sophomore Emily Acker is new to the team this year and is their fifth. The team is much improved compared to last year. With Wojtusik coming back and a good influx of new runners they will have a good shot at moving up into the top three in the league.

Cobleskill-Richmondville returns five out of seven from last year. Sophomore Jordan Fogel leads the team with a run in the mid 20's last year. Not far behind her is Sophomore Kim Brizzee who was in the high 20's last year but had a solid track season and could improve well this year. Junior Sarah Baldwin was in the low 21's last year and should be their number three runner. Their fourth and fifth runners, Seniors Hannah Dibble and Heidi Pearson were in the low to mid 22's last year. To improve in the league they will need their fourth and fifth runners close the gap to their top three. In a competitive league like the Colonial Council it's tough to be in the top half with runners in the 22 minute range in your top five.

Cohoes returns five out of six from last year's team but they have totally revamped themselves with a bunch of new runners which should move them up in the league. Sophomore Sarah Carter and 8th grader Lily Sencer had excellent track seasons and now that they've joined cross country, should be their top two runners. Junior Lydia Dawes is their third runner and was in the mid 20's last year. Sophomore Kendra Aubin is their fourth runner and was in the mid 21 minute range last year. Cohoes will depend on a couple more new runners to battle for the fifth spot with Sophomore Elle Connelly and Junior Daijah Metcalf. Four out of their projected six are new to the cross country team. If they can develop quickly then I can see Cohoes moving to the top part of the league.

Lansingburgh Lost two out of their top seven to graduation. Unfortunately, they also lost their top runner, Freshman Dayshia Randall, because she moved to Troy and another runner who decided not to come out this year. This leaves Senior Tabia Gamble as their number one runner this year, running in the high 20's last year. Freshman Ashley Taitt is their second  runner with a run in the mid 21's. After that, they need to rely on new runners Junior Nicole Montanino, Sophomore Molly Bergin, and 8th grader Tatiana Karmazyn to fill in as their third through fifth runners. I suspect that there will be a big gap between their top two runners and the rest of the team and that gap will have to close considerably if they want to move up in the league.

Voorheesville returns five out of their top seven. Unfortunately, the two runners they lost to graduation were their top two runners from last year. Junior Courtney Reilly takes over the mantle as their number one runner . She was in the low 21's last year. 8th grader Robin Wakeley and Senior Carla Planz should be their second and third runners and were close together in the high 21's. Sophomore Faith Cunningham should be their fourth runner and is in the mid 22's. Their fifth runner, Senior Allegra Fasulo is about a minute behind. Like Lansingburgh, they'll need those spreads to close to stay competitive.

Schalmont only returns four out of seven from last year, including their top two runners, which is a problem in a league that didn't lose much. Sophomore Sam Reagon should be their top runner and was in the high 20's last year. Junior Cassie Kranick should be their second runner and was exactly one minute behind Reagon last year. Then there is a big 90 second gap to the rest of the team as Senior Brittany Sutliffe and Juniors Shawnee Olsen and Alyssa Marzella were all in the low  to mid 23 minute range. That spread has to close considerably if they want to improve in the league.

Ravena was hit the worst in the league to graduation as they only return two out of their top seven from last year and three runners total. Junior Alexandra Eddy should be their top runner as she was just over 21 minutes last year. Their second and third runners, Seniors Laurel Riordan and Carlie Morrow were in the mid to high 23 minute range last year. Not sure if they'll be complete this season as there isn't much help coming up from modified this year. Right now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Still, I don't see them moving up too much with a complete team.

Watervliet only had three runners last year but return them all. 8th grader Hallie Mainville should be their top runner. She was in the mid 21's last year. Freshman Kyleigh Sawyer was in the high 23's and Senior Katelyn Parks was in the mid 27's. They didn't have any modified runners last year so I'm not sure if they'll be complete this year either. Let's hope so.
