Girls Class A Championships (corrected)  - Results

Shaker takes championship over Saratoga Springs 112-85

Shaker was led by wins from Maryanna Lansing in the 1500 meters, Kristen Hayes in the 400 Hurdles. Emily Vandenburgh in the Long Jump, Emma Torncello in the Triple Jump, and the 400 Meter Relay team. They also picked up four 2nd place finishes to help their cause. Saratoga got wins from Keelin Hollowood in the 2000 Steeplechase, and the 3200 Meter Relay team. Colonie's Kyle Plante swept the sprints winning the 100, 200, and 400 meters, and also anchored their 1600 Meter Relay team to 1st place.

Thursday: Holy Names takes the Distance Medley relay title in 11:59.66, seven seconds ahead of Shenendehowa. Shenendehowa boys placed 4th in the open DMR in 10:46.02 and the 2nd Holy Names team places 2nd in the open DMR race.

Friday: Shaker's Christian Delago finishes 3rd in the 800 meters in 1:52.20 which puts him 5th on the Section 2 All-Time list. Bethlehem's Matt Crawford placed 7th in 1:54.22 which put him 30th on the Sec. 2 All-Time list...Greenwich's Austin Lane places 8th in the 3200 meters in 9:17.12 that puts him 23rd on the Sec. 2 All-Time list. Shaker's Justice Ramsey places 4th in the Long Jump i with a jump of 21' 8 1/2".

Colonie Relays - Results

Shaker boys and girls sweep the team titles. Girls meet records by Colonie in the 1600 Relay, Sprint Medley Relay, and 3x100 Hurdles, Shaker in the Long Jump and Triple Jump relays, and Holy Names in the 3200 Relay. Individual records by Shaker's Emily VanDenburgh in the Long Jump and Shenendehowa's Sara Osaheni in the Triple Jump. Colonie Kyle Plante ties the meet record in the 100 meters.

 

Fonda Relays- Results

Big day for meet records as eight varsity records were broken with Amsterdam and Bishop Gibbons leading the way with two boy's records each. Amsterdam had records in the 400 Relay (43.4) and the Long Jump Relay (40' 5 1/2") and Bishop Gibbons broke records in the 6400 Relay (18:24.1) and the Distance Medley Relay (10:37.8). Other records were set by Columbia (Boys 800 relay in 1:33.0), Broadalbin-Perth (Boys Sprint Medley Relay in 3:40.8), Greenwich (Girls Distance Medley Relay in 12:53.0), and Ballston Spa (Girls Pole Vault Relay with 17' 9").

Schenectady Invitational-Boys - Results

Amsterdam wins big over runner-up Fonda-Fultonville 121-74. Amsterdam was led by double winner Matthew White (200 meters and 110 Hurdles), Izaiah Brown (400 meters), and had wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay. Fonda-Fultonville was led by an individual win by Kyle Guiffre in the shot put and their 4x800 relay team.

 

Schenectady Invitational-Girls - Results

Shaker beats out Suburban Council rival Colonie for the team title 131-110. Shaker was led by individual wins by Maryanna Lansing (1500 meters), Emma Torncello (100 Hurdles and Triple Jump), Madison Rowland (High Jump) and relay wins in the 4x100 and 4x800. Colonie was led by double winner Kyle Plante (100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles) and individual wins from Kirsten Kaminski (800 meters) and Kara Snyder (Pole Vault). Colonie also had a blazing time of 3:55.62 in the 4x400.

Ballston Spa Lions Club Invitational - Results

     Saratoga Springs takes the boys title in a blow out, beating runner-up Fonda-Fultonville 152-68. Saratoga was led by double winners Jeff Hrebenach winning the 100m (11.39) and 200m (23.06), tying the meet record in the 100 meters, and Steve Kuzina who swept the hurdles. Saratoga also got wins from Evan Quinones (400 meters), Spencer Patterson (1600m), Jon Moore (3200m), Tim Hartwell (pole vault), and Scott Kasson (Shot Put). They also swept the relays.

     Queensbury wins big over Glens Falls 124.7-78.7. The Spartans were led by individual wins by Colleen Rice (100 meters and 400 hurdles), Nikari Carota (100 hurdles in a meet record 15.43), and Olivia Paolano (triple jump). Niskayuna's Kaleigh Higgins  set the other meet record winning the 800 meters in 2:18.46. 

 

 Note to coaches: The Rider Relays at Ichabod Crane have been cancelled this year.

Saratoga girls take the title over Colonie 111-97 to win their first title since 2006.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys beats out Niskayuna 140-135 to win their 2nd straight league title.

Holy Names wins by 25 over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 126-101 to win their 4th title in five years.

 

Great Dane Classic - Results

-Colonie wins the girls title over Shaker 666-48 1/2. The garnet Raiders were led by Kyle Plante's wins in  300m and the 55 Hurdles. Shaker was lead by a 1-2 finish by Emily Vandenburgh and Emma Torncello in the Long Jump. Emma Willard's Molly Shapiro improves on her Section 2 Triple Jump record with a jump of 39' 8 1/4".

-Shaker takes the boys title over Burnt Hillls-Ballston Lake 82-51. Shaker was led by wins from Robert Smith (600 meters) and Mike Libruk (3200 meters), Burnt Hills was led by double winner Joe Carr in the 55 meters and the 300 meters.

 

New Balance Invitational - Results

Colonie's Giancarlo Sainato breaks the 1:20 barrier in the 600m, finishing in 1:19.97 to improve on his Section 2 Record

Bethlehem's Matt Crawford moves up to #3 on the Section 2 all-time list in the 600m, finishing in 1:20.95

Shaker boys 3200 relay team runs #4 Section 2 time by finishing 2nd in 7:49.96, behind C.B.A.-Lincroft's impressive 7:41.53.

Holy Names 3200 relay team runs 9:12.03 to move up to #6 on the all-time list.

Shaker's Mike Libruk runs #9 time on Section 2 all-time list in the 1000 meters with a run of 2:29.96. Teammate Christian Delago cut in early and was DQ'ed

Colonie's Giancarlo Sainato breaks the Section 2 record, winning the 600 meters in 1:20.42, beating the previous record of 1:20.76 by Tyler Stewart

Shaker's Christian Delago finished in 2nd in the mile in 4:16.00 and moves him up to 8th on the Section 2 All-Time list.

Academy of the Holy Names wins the 4x800 in 9:22.31, putting them 18th on the Section 2 All-Time list.

 

Dartmouth Relays - Complete Results

Saturday Results: Section 2 runners taking titles are Joe Carr of Burnt Hills in the 300m (35.62), Colonie's Giancarlo Sainato in the boys 600m (1:21.67), Colonie's Jayson Gayle in the boys Long Jump (21' 2 3/4"), Colonie's Kyle Plante in the girls 300m (39.54), Kaitlin Close in the girls 600m (1:38.49), and Catherine Maloy in the 1000m (2:58.80), both girls are from Holy Names.

-Colonie boys win the sprint medley relay inn 3:36.86, one tenth of a second faster than Rush-Henrietta. Colonie girls took 2nd in the sprint medley relay, with Shaker in 5th and Niskayuna 6th. Colonie girls also took 2ns in the Distance Medley Relay with Niskayuna in 5th and Columbia in 6th.

-Section 2 dominated the unseeded sections FFriday night. For the boys Section 2 got wins from Ichabod Crane's Jack Sullivan in mile (4:36.01) with Fonda-Fultonville's Matt Hoffman in 2nd (4:38.01), Andrew Tario of Averill Park in the two mile (9:52.30) with Shenendehowa's Michael Borini in 2nd (9:57.76), C.B.A.'s Torey Williams in the Triple Jump (41' 6"), C.B.A.'s Cameron Wynn in the Long Jump (20' 1") with teammate Williams in 2ns and Ichabod Crane's Isaiah Turek in 3rd.

    For the girls, Fonda-Fultonville's Jamie Kasza takes the mile in 5:31.94, with Columbia's Jessica Hernandez, and Colonie's Rachel Keller and Carolyn Pellegrini taking the next three spots. Emily Dingman take 2nd in the two mile in 11:54.27 with Shaker's Payton Czupil in 4th. Field events were won by Columbia's Eva Kiehl in the Long Jump (16' 8") and Fonda-Fultonville's Katie Wisniewski in the Triple Jump (33' 3 1/2").
