Current song: The Clash - "The Guns of Brixton"

Website that has nothing to do with running: Kenya, Can you believe it?

I felt it was about that time to add another one of these here things. Basically what I want to talk about are some things that I'm thinking about adding to the site. The good news is, most of this new stuff will have all of you much more involved. So here are the things I'm thinking about.

-I'm looking for runners to send in their reviews of varsity races from invitationals. Basically a blow by blow account which means it would have to be someone who was up front in the pack or a spectator who could see most of the race. I think many people who come to the site would like to hear a first hand account of what went on in the race, especially if they weren't there. I'll publish the ones that were sent with me along with the race results. You can send them to my email.

-I would like to add a database of course records around Section 2. When I mean records I mean any records that you may have, varsity, frosh, modified, the more records the better. Records should include the basics: course, distance, record holders, year it was broken, and of course record time. If you have a top ten for a course then by all means send that too. Not sure if I'll start out with that much but the more the better. I like this idea for the simple fact that if someone was curious about a course record then all they have to do is come here to find it instead of asking a dozen people, which is usually the way it happens.

-A reader's poll for team rankings. I'm not sure of the amount of support this would have but I know most of you have an opinion. I'm thinking of two ways to do this. Either have one big ranking involving all school or doing each class. If we did each class then you wouldn't have to give a top 10 for every class, just the ones you have knowledge about. I wouldn't expect many Class AA runners to have a top list of Class D schools but for the ones that do then go ahead and send it. So feel free to send your top 10 for one class or all five. I only ask that you have done some research. Only classes that have at least five people voting will be included. So what I guess I'm saying is that we can try both ways and if one way is working but the other isn't then we can drop it. All rank voting must be emailed to me Mondays by 11:59pm.

-Finally, not sure how much this will worrk but, a writers section for everyone. Write about your views and thoughts about running for the whole world to share. There are many things out there to talk about that I'm sure many of you have stuff to talk about or get off your chest. I ask that your article be clean, which means no swearing, and that it does have a little substance to it. You can criticize if you lie but remember that your name will be attached to it and no, no anonymous articles if I did that then I know I'd have some coaches or parents bugging me about who wrote the article "My coach is complete idiot" and I don't need that headache.

So these are the new plans that I have. I'm sure they'll all have to be tweaked a little but I'm hoping it will make you guys more involved with the site. What I do know is that most of you are very passionate about our sport and I'm sure many of you would like be more involved and more vocal about cross country and track so here's your chance. I think it's a lot better than posting anonymously on the message board. So let me know what you think. I'll put a topic on the message board so you can give your thoughts or you can email me with what you think.

I'm going to try and put out a new stuff next week, in that one I will include my biggest pet peeve in cross country.

   Until then, Broderick.....out

P.S.- All the above ideas are all inclusive. Adults, parents, and old foggies like Strider (jk Mark) are more than welcome to be involved in everything I mentioned above. I definitely like an old school flava to be included.
