Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 23 Niskayuna 34

Burnt Hills places five in the top seven to beat out Niskayuna in the opener for both teams. The Spartans were led by Ryan Allison (13:23.2) and Matthew Rounds (13:29.5) placing 2nd and 3rd respectively to lead the team. Peter Fulgieri, Matt Windecker, and Ammon Smith took the fifth through seventh places to complete the top five for Burnt Hills. Niskayuna's Julian Franjieh opens the season with an impressive win, taking the individual win by fifteen seconds, finishing in 13:08.7 on his 2.5 miles home course at Iroquois Middle School. Daniel Pavelec takes the individual victory as Shaker takes the first three places to take the win over Schenectady 17-46. Pavelec finished in 13:50.1, thirty-three seconds ahead of teammate Vinny Levchenko (14:23.2) with Zach Diehl (14:38.6) finishing in third place. Shenendehowa takes the first six places to take their opener over Bethlehem 15-45. The Plainsmen were led by individual winner Nathan Brimhall who finished in 12:50.6, Thirty-one seconds ahead of Michael Clay (13:26.4). Liyat Kebbede and Orit Shiang went 1-2 to lead Niskyuna to a solid 21-36 win over Burnt Hills. Kebbede finished the 2.5 mile course in 15:56.3. Sixteen seconds ahead of her teammate, Mary Kate Cestaro (17:12.0) and Skyler Smith (17:13) took the fourth and fifth spots respectively to put the race out of reach. Shaker, led by individual winner Leonni Griffin, take the top seven spots to sweep Schenectady 15-50. Griffin finished in 15:17.4. thirteen seconds ahead of teammate Kaleigh Higgins (15:30.1). Andie Harding (16:09.4), Charlotte Dunkel (16:59.5), and Birtu Diefenderfer (16:59.8) completed Shaker's top five. Liala Kanan was Schenectady's top finisher placing in eighth place in 22:39.8. Bethlehem's Rylee Davis starts the season off strong with an individual win but Shenenedhowa's depth was too much as they get the win over Bethlehem 24-35. Davis finished in 15:01.2, well ahead of Shen's Brenna McLaughlin (15:43.8). Bethlehem's Maeve Conway took third in 16:05.8 but Shen took the next four spots for the win led by Carolyn Griffin (4th,16:06.7), Kara Sinnott (5th,16:09.4), Skyler Knott (6th,16:12.5), and Kyla Klingbell (7th,16:16.1).
